NOUN convocation: Obasanjo bags MA degree

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is
among over 5,000 students that would be
graduating from the National Open
University of Nigeria (NOUN) at its coming
convocation. He would be conferred with
MA degree in Christian Theology following
successful completion of the 2014/2015
academic session.
Expectedly, the former President is going to
be the star attraction at the 5th
convocation ceremony scheduled to hold at
University Village, Cadastral Zone, Nnamdi
Azikiwe Expressway, Jabi-Abuja.
Already, the Management of the institution
had concluded arrangements for successful
hosting of the convocation ceremony slated
for Friday and Saturday, January 15 and 16
respectively. A statement signed by the
NOUN’s Director, Media and Information,
Dr. Ronke Ogunmakin, said the convocation
lecture with the theme: ‘’Open and Distance
Education and Socio-Economic
Development’’-would be delivered by Prof.
Nuhu Yaqub, Vice Chancellor, Sokoto State
University on Friday, January 15.
According to her, the convocation ceremony
would feature conferment of certificates,
diplomas, bachelor degrees, post graduate
diplomas, masters and honorary doctorate
degrees on the graduands, who had been
found worthy in character and learning.
She further hinted that the occasion would
be used to inaugurate the senate building
and the specialist hospital sponsored by
TETFUND, while His Royal Majesty, Igwe
Ambassador Lawrence Okolio Chikezie
Agubuzu of Olo Kingdom, Ezeagu Local
Government Area, Enugu State, would also
be installed as The first Chancellor of the
university.
