Court Sentences Two Policemen To 25 Years In Prison For Torturing Suspect To Death

Court Sentences Two Policemen To 25 Years In Prison For Torturing Suspect To Death Two Egyptian policemen have been sentenced to 25 years in prison for torturing and beating a citizen to death at a police station in the Tanta city of Gbarbiya province. The Tanta Criminal Court held that it had on a previous occasion sentenced the two policemen – a captain and a non-commissioned officer – to one year in prison for torturing and injuring another citizen at the same police station. The two policemen were sentenced in absentia.
Reports say the two victims of the policemen’s brutality were in for theft. While one was tortured to death during interrogation, the other sustained injuries that landed him in hospital. A source in the security sector however said the verdict would be appealed. The North African nation of Egypt had been hit with cases of police brutality which human rights groups have condemned in recent times. The Interior Ministry said it would punish any police officer caught in acts that constitute brutality, while saying that the torture cases were mere “individual cases” and not a measure of general police behaviour. - See more at: http://www.bangahit.blogspot.com/court-sentences-two-policemen-to-25-years-in-prison-for-torturing-suspect-to-death/#sthash.MDQDlqUT.dpuf

EFCC Drags Former PDP Chair, Son To Court For Receiving N600m From Dasuki

EFCC Drags Former PDP Chair, Son To Court For Receiving N600m From Dasuki. Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed charges against a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Haliru Mohammed Bello, and his son, Abbah, for collecting N600 million from the embattled former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki. The money was collected in the name of Bam Properties. Although it was not revealed what the money was meant for, but the EFCC alleges that the money might have been diverted from the public treasury for political purposes. Vanguard gathered that the Bellos are likely to be docked on Tuesday and Wednesday. The NSA has been alleged to have diverted $2.1 billion meant to purchase arms for the military to aid in the fight against insurgency. The money has been traced to several top officials in the last administration and party chieftains, most of who have been charged to court by the EFCC. - See more at: http://www.bangahit.blogspots.com/efcc-drags-former-pdp-chair-son-to-court-for-receiving-n600m-from-dasuki/#sthash.ICdRmd6g.dpuf

Police Parade Pastor For Allegedly Killing Female Church Member In His Office

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has paraded a pastor for allegedly killing a female church member in an altercation that occurred in his office.
This was revealed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Cordelia Nwawe, on Tuesday in the state capital, Uyo.
Pastor Gideon Idio of God’s Power City allegedly killed the church member, Joanna Okon, in a quarrel in his office, the cause of which could still not be ascertained.
Nwawe explained that the pastor had invited the member into his office before  an altercation arose between the duo that led to the suspect attacking the victim, which reportedly caused her to collapse.
She said: “The so-called pastor locked the deceased inside his office and used the deceased phone to call her close relation claiming to be a tricycle driver who picked up the girl from Udotung Ubo Street en route Itam where she slumped inside the tricycle and is being taken to an undisclosed hospital.
“As if that was not enough the suspect later at about 7p.m. informed the relations of the girl that he saw the corpse of the deceased at IBB Road, Uyo and has removed the corpse to his office, after which the suspect and relations of the deceased conveyed the corpse to a mortuary at Ibiono Ibom.”

Honourable Essien Ekpenyong Ayi, the representative of the Baka$$i/ Akpabuyo/Calabar South Federal Constituency of Cross River State, was pictured with his face in his palm as he took an obviously much-needed nap during Buhari’s presentation. However, the ceremony proved to be of no interest to one legislator who was sound asleep. Meanwhile, the president has a$$ured Nigerians that the 2016 budget would revive the country’s economy and lead to the creation of more jobs. He also apologized for the ongoing fuel scarcity and a$$ured citizens that the government was working hard to resolve the situation. things Nigerians Should Expect in 2016 Under Buhari’s Govt – Governor Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose
Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has in his controversial style unveiled 18 things Nigerians should expect to happen under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government in 2016.
In a statement personally signed by Fayose, yesterday, he said: “Fellow Nigerians, I want you to take note of the followings that will unavoidably happen under the Buhari-led government in 2016.”
1. Workers Strike: There will be so much industrial unrest, especially in the first quarter of the year.
2. Subsidy: There will be removal of fuel subsidy and petrol (PMS) will sell over and above N100/litre, leaving the ma$$es in more serious hardship. Product will not be available and long queue in petrol stations will persist throughout the first quarter of 2016 and beyond.
3. Electricity: Power generation will drop to the lowest ebb. Still, Federal Government will increase tariff in 2016.
4. Unemployment: Millions of jobs will be lost in 2016 as against the three million jobs promised by the APC yearly. Most States and Federal Government will retrench workers as evident in the over 2,000 Federal University workers already sacked.
5. Economic Policy: Most private owned middle-cla$$ businesses will fold up because of bad economic policies of the Buhari-led government.
6. Devaluation: The Naira will continue to have a free fall which will take it to as low as N320 to one Dollar.
7. Economy: The Buhari-led FG will have no solution to country’s economic problems.
8. Security: Boko Haram will keep spreading and the Shiite Muslims will get more emboldened.
9. Human Rights: Penchant for dictatorship will rise with rampant human rights abuses and disobedience to court orders.
10. Anti-Corruption: Insincerity in the fight against corruption will continue and the fight will not only be selective and political, but targeted more at Southerners.
11. Elections: Attempt to forcefully control any of the South South States of Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa by the APC will lead to unprecedented deaths.
12. Economy: Crude oil price will fall to below and about $30 per barrel.
13. Anti-Press Laws: The ma$$es, especially men of the media profession will rise against the FG’s plot to deny Nigerians of their rights to freedom of expression. There will wide condemnations by Nigerians and the International community against President Buhari’s human rights abuses and disobedience to court orders.
14. Polity: Renewed efforts will be made to remove Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President; this will not only fail, but will heat the polity.
15. Hardships: Nigerians will experience more hardships. The President himself attested to this (THE SUN newspaper Tuesday, December 15, 2015). This obviously negates the change Nigerians voted for.
16. Corruption: Halliburton scam may be revisited in 2016.
17. Kogi State: Court will sack Governor-Elect, Yahaya Bello.
Bayelsa State: Governor Seriake d*ckson will win the supplementary election.
Taraba State: Governor Darius Ishaku will be victorious at the Court.
18. Politics: There will be subtle political alignment and realignment before the end of the year ahead of 2019 electionshould Expect in 2016 Under Buhari's Govt- Governor Fayose

Controversial governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has continued tto criticise the President in his list of 18 things Nigerians should expect from Buhari in 2016hings Nigerians Should Expect.

2016 BUDGET: Buhari Made A Shocking Revelation For The Youths

2016 Budget Will Focus On Job Creation In Every Sector - Buhari.

The Presidency on Tuesday, December 22 2015 has said that the 2016 budget will focus on job creation in every sector in the country.

Buhari-at-Villa-2.jpg.pagespeed.ic.AaGL3VUF5B

While giving his speech at the National Assembly, he vowed that the federal government will invest to safeguard lives and properties of Nigerians in order for them to operate in secure environments.
Also, he added that the federal government is ready to work in the interests of Nigerians and will fight for the protection of its citizens.
He said: “We assure Nigerians that our 2016 borrowings will be properly directed while 1.36 trillion naira has been provided for foreign and productive aspects.
READ ALSO:

“We are here to serve and indeed Nigerians will get a service they have longed for and rightfully deserve.
However, while assuring Nigerians that the trust bestowed in the government is not breached, he also suggested that the Nigerian economy needs to find other means of revenue apart from oil.
“This budget is a major step in delivering. We have demonstrated a strong will to fight corruption.
“We implemented the Treasury Single Account which has provided greater visibility to revenue and cash flow,” he added.
Bukola Saraki, the Senate President said the 2016 budget must be bold and pragmatic in providing transparent incentives and conducive environment that will prime private sector-led development, encourage local production and promote made-in Nigeria goods.
“The National Assembly has a critical role to play and we recognize this role. On the budget we are willing and ready to provide the scrutiny necessary to pass only a budget that can be implemented comprehensively to the letter,” he said.
READ ALSO:

Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker of the House of Representatives who was also present at the presentation commended President Muuhammadu Buhari for submitting the budget in person to the National Assembly as it had become a norm for it to be communicated to the National Assembly through post or email.
He thanked Nigerians for their confidence in the federal government and also urged his colleagues for the speedy passage of the budget.
After Dogara’s speech, the members of the house of representatives chanted a loud cheer saying “Dogara, Dogara” to show support and solidarity with the speaker.
recalls that the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) was submitted barely three weeks to the end of 2015 financial year which is violating provisions of Fiscal Responsibility Act provisions. The budget is usually preceded by the MTEF and FSP.
The MTEF document according to law was supposed to have been submitted for approval by August 2015 four months to the end of the financial year requirement stipulated in the Fiscal Responsibility Act.‎
Meanwhile, the submission of the budget by the Presidency led to the extension of proceedings beyond Thursday the 17th of December 2015 which was earlier agreed for Thursday, December 17 2015, to resume January 2016

Nigerian Church Where Bible Is Not Used, You Need To Know The General Overseer (Photo)

The Holy Arousa building

Church Where Oba Of Benin Is Overseer (Photo)

Located on Akpakpava Road in Benin city, the Holy Aruosa (the eye of God) Cathedral is an historical church on its own.
The church which was founded about 500 years ago does not need any advertisement. It has a large number of people as its followers and the Oba of Benin is its spiritual head. According to Osagie Otabor of The Nation, the Holy Aruosa Cathedral is to the Bini people what the Church of England is to the English people; no wonder it is referred to as the Church of Benin.
Read a detailed report on the church as seen on The Nation:
Members of the Holy Arousa are different from flocks of other religious bodies: they are seldom seen sharing pamphlets to convert members or inviting people to the church. The church leaders do not hold crusades or revival services to convert ‘souls’, neither do they invite people to experience miracles.
Legend has it that the church was located at the place because it was the spot the Bini had direct contact with Osanobua (God) long before the coming of the European explorers and missionaries.
READ ALSO:
According to the folklore, a powerful spiritual leader known as Okhuaihe was said to have offered to personally take the peoples’ plea to God as a result of drought and pestilence that had infected the land. He gave up his life during one of the prayer sessions. He was expected to return and bring succour to the people.
As the story goes, the people continued their prayers waiting for Okhuaihe’s return but rather than his return, they got a huge fireball that descended from the sky. At the point where the ball of fire dropped, a huge black stone was found and a place of worship was built there.
During the British invasion of Benin Kingdom, the church was destroyed and the black stone was carted away along with other artifacts from the ancient city at about 1897. The invaders came with their own God, mode of worship and forbade the people from worshipping Osanobua at Holy Arousa.
It was Oba Akenzua II (father of the present monarch) who rebuilt the current cathedral, not only in Benin City, but in Onitsha, Umuahia and other areas.
READ ALSO:
The Oba of Benin is the spiritual head (general overseer) of the Church. His deputy is the Benin Crown Prince. The presiding head of the church is known as ‘Ohen Osa’ (God’s servant). A special seat is reserved for the Oba at the church. The priests dress like the Roman Catholic priests and usually wear red caps.
Service at the church is conducted in Bini language. The Holy Bible is not used in the church; much of the preaching revolves around reminding the congregation that the Oba is God’s representative on earth and on the need to be good while on earth. Baptism of new converts is done with the white chalk (Orhue) in what is regarded as ‘Igborhe’.
Does miracle happen in the church? Ohen Osa Harrison Okao said people received miracles and God’s blessings directly from God without any intermediary.
He said: “Those who seek God come here. We don’t beg people to come. If you attend and discover that your contact with God is cordial, you will remain. If you beg God for promotion and you come here and got it, you will remain here.”

See List Of 10 Poorest States in Nigeria – Check If Your State Is Among!
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Sokoto is the poorest state in Nigeria with an 81.2% poverty rate. Furthermore, a 2012 information posted on the bureau’s website listed the top 10 poorest states in the country: 10. Zamfara – 70.8% Formed from the Old Sokoto state in 1996 and located in northwestern Nigeria, Zamfara is governed by Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party. Agriculture is the most important occupation of the people of the state, hence its slogan “farming is our pride” Recently the governor was blasted for the “alarming scope of economic dangers and its potential threat to the economic development of the state,” by the Zamfara Budget Working Group. 9. Kebbi – 72% Kebbi State is a north-western Nigeria state formed from part of Sokoto State in 1991. It is bordered by Sokoto State,Niger State,Dosso Regionin the Republic of Niger and the nation of Benin. There isn’t much to be written about the state’s economy but things are looking up. The recently concluded Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport (SABIA), stands out as one of Nigeria’s most sophisticated airports and is expected to boost the state’s economy. 8. Bauchi – 73% Bauchi is a Northern Nigerian state formed in 1976 when the former North-Eastern Stat ewas broken up. In Hausa the word Bauchi meansthe land of freedom and tourism. However recent Boko Haram adventures in the area, though few, have driven tourists away from the area. Last year Gov. Isa Juguda told Arewa that economies of Northern states is finished due to the Boko Haram insurgency. 7. Ebonyi – 73.6% Created by Gen. Sanni Abacha in 1996, Ebonyi is the only south eastern state among the top 9 poorest country. It is governed by Martin Elechi who currently claims his enemies have set aside N3bn for his impeachment. The state is besieged by corrupt office holders and the EFCC recently froze accounts of the state’s local governments. 6. Plateau – 74.1% Plateau State is the twelfth largest state of Nigeria, and is roughly located in the center of the country. Governored by Jonah Jang of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Plateau has naturally col climate and a wide range of tourist attractions and boasts of a bubbling state capital, Jos. The state is haunted by some terrorist attacks and tribal clashes from time to time, especially clashes between Fulani herdsmen and its inhabitants. 5. Jigawa – 74.1% Jigawa, carved out of the old Kano state is located in North central Nigeria and is under the leadership of Alhaji Sule lamido. Kano State and Katsina State border Jigawa to the west, Bauchi State to the east and Yobe State to the northeast. To the north, Jigawa shares an international border with Zinder Region in The Republic of Niger, which is a unique opportunity for cross-border trading activities. Government readily took advantage of this by initiating and establishing a Free-Trade Zone at the Border town of Maigatari of country of Niger. 4. Gombe – 74.2% Gombe is another North eastern state which shares common borders with the states of Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi. It suffers sporadic attacks from terrorists and is governed by rIbrahim Ha$$an Dankwambo of the Peoples’ Democratic Party. 3. Adamawa – 74.2% Formed in 1991 from the extinct Gongola state, Adamawa has of late been terrorized by the islamist Boko Haram terrorist group, disrupting it’s economic development and growth. However Yola, the state capital under its current governor Bala Ngillari is fast being transformed with new roads, street lights, traffic lights and other prerequisites of a modern city being built. However things are far from being rosy as other parts of the state remain underdeveloped. 2. Katsina – 74.5% Katsina is a state in North central Nigeria and is governed by Ibrahim Shettima of the Peoples’ Democratic Party. The state has the highest poverty prevalence amongst all states in the region. Arsenal saw 'massive' win coming

Arsenal saw 'massive' win coming

Arsenal knew they would get their "massive" win in Greece if they could impose their brand of football on the game, Petr Cech has said after the club sealed their last 16 place in the Champions League with a 3-0 win over Olympiakos Piraeus on Wednesday.
The Gunners went into the game knowing they needed to win by any scoreline apart from 1-0 or 2-1 to qualify for the knockout stages for a 16th consecutive year.
"Well, we could! We were searching for it and we knew if we played our game, if we have a great team performance and great individual performances then we will have a chance, and we did say exactly that," Cech told reporters after the game when asked if anyone could have seen that result coming.
"It is a massive win for us, the club, the supporters and for the future because it will give us confidence."
Arsenal avoided the embarrassment of dropping into the second tier Europa League thanks to striker Olivier Giroud, who scored his first hat-trick for the club on Wednesday.
Giroud has scored 13 goals in 23 appearances for the club this season and Cech has singled out the Frenchman for praise.
"He scores goals when we need him. He is a real handful when we need to play. What you want from your striker is to score goals and he has been scoring goals which is fantastic," Cech said.
Arsenal will hope to leapfrog surprise leaders Leicester City, who host champions Chelsea on Monday, in the Premier League when they travel to take on bottom side Aston Villa the previous day.
